Publisher's Description:

Polestar Virtual Printer - Polestar Virtual Printer is a combination of virtual PDF printer and virtual image printer, which enables you to convert Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, AutoCAD, Photoshop and much more document types into PDF, TIFF, JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP,or EMF with high quality, and keep the exact look and content of the original documents. It is a completely FREE software with no watermarks and no popup web ads!

The tiny interface let you install or uninstall the driver for the virtual printer, make a printing test or read the help menu. So how do you convert the files? Very easy. Just right click the needed file and choose the print command. If you don't have any other printer installed, Polestar Virtual Printer will automatically recognize the file and it will ask where it should save the file and in what format. After this the file will be converted. If you have another printer installed, you will have to choose first the virtual printer, and after this Polestar will recognize the file.

Installation fails on Windows 7 x64 so I cannot tell if this program has any real value.

I was trying to use the produce with a Finale Music program. This would help me to change the final composition into a PDF to send to a friend who does not use Finale Notepad for music and does not have the ability to open things in Chinese or use special Hakka Chinese Characters. I encountered a problem in the the program. It would not print all the staff lines of the music clearly.

Also in trying to print it to a JPEG it also was not clear and would cut off the right margin so that it was not usable.

Otherwise the program worked well.

Does not generate .TIFF bigger than A2. I loaded the software to generate A1 and A0 format .TIFF, it doesn't fit my need thought.

Great `Inexpensive` virtual printer

Seems like a great program. I have used it a little, mostly for testing purposes. We are looking for a program that will allow us to create TIF (one f not two 'TIF vs. TIFF') images from any program. This program does really well at creating TIFF images and pdf's, and is very easy to use and install. Highly recommended.

However if I had the option of picking which format of TIFf to print too, it would be vastly more usefull to me.

Thanks for the great product at a very great price! Free!

PoleStar Virtual Printer

I have been a user of Primo PDF as a virtual printer for some time, but this time I need to go from a PDF file into a Jpeg, so I've been looking for FREE software to do it.

I downloaded Polestar Virtual PDF driver, and tried to convert from a PDF file into a Jpeg. It works well enough. Setup the program and then it will capture a printer output and write it to a file. polestar writes out in a dozen or so formats. Its main claim to fame is to PDF, which is VERY handy.

I wanted Jpeg, however. Problem is the result is in black and white. Despite trying GIF, TIFF, BMap and Jpeg, always the same. My PDF file, which is quite definitely in colour, printed using the stock-standard Adobe Acrobat reader, produces monochrome output when used in the raster image file formats.

Printing from anything other than Adobe Acrobat reader seems to produce a colour image, but from Adobe Acrobat Reader when going to a jpeg or bmap or similar gives you only a monocrhome result.

This is a really handy program, and will mean you can get pdf files from any program that can print. It also drops printer images into jpegs, etc, which is handy if you want to set something up in Word or Publisher or even internet explorer, and then drop it to a jpeg. I will certainly be keeping the progam on my system.

But for the MAIN reason I want it - ie to drop a pdf file into a jpeg, it's not going to be up to the task.

If you want to convert anything into a PDF or indeed a raster graphical file (eg jpeg) the program is VERY VERY handy. I wonder why it only prints out in monocrhome from Adobe Reader??

Good utility, but it could be better

PVP functions quite well, but on large quantities of sheets it takes too much time to generate an output file. Moreover, generated PDF file is not of very good quality, although it has resolution 300 dpi. As for its interface it would be better if the program allowed changing it to standard Windows decoration.
